Year 7 camp

                                            Year 7 camp.

This week we went on our camp to Auckland. We stayed at the YHA Youth Hostel. The city was filled with pollution and smelled like farts and smoke. We walked everywhere and went so far on our little legs. The war museum was kind of boring but the maritime museum was so good. The don,t touch room was the best same with the sailing simulator. the food was nice and I would like to do it again. The overall the rating is 8/10 it could have been better in the whole aspect of not swimming, staying with an adult at all times. We know where we are going but it's difficult to learn when you have to listen to adults shouting at us to do something, or go left or go right. Big thanks to Mrs N for organizing the camp same with the Adults for putting up with us just.

Production.

Annie Production.

My role in the production is Boy a kiwi kid full of energy and is always being cheeky. I like being Boy it is fun rehearsing and not doing work. The production was boring on the last performance because we have done it lots and it was just so boring to do. But on the last one my family was watching. Being on stage was fun but people would always talk and they had to be QUIET.

How does Plastic get recycled.

'How does plastic get recycled?'

Have you ever wondered how a plastic bottle gets another life?

56 billion plastic bottles are made in factories each year. They use 4% of the world's  fossil fuel and crude oil. Only 20% of the bottles they make are recycled. The rest go to landfill and the ocean.

The plastic gets put into bales and get transported by trucks in700-1000 pound bales. The bales are broken apart and put on a conveyor belt under a ultraviolet light looking for contaminated bottles which they put aside. Next the plastic bottles are put in a rotating drum with knifes in a ¼ to ⅜ gap between them on a screening monitor.

Then they go on to a paper separator with a continuous air flow the paper flies away and Polyethylene   terephthalate chips (PET) stay put. Next the PET chips are taken to a different conveyer belt which takes them to a water bath with soap heated at 170 degrees to give them a good wash. Then it goes to a dewatering station to get all the soap off a rinse bath is next.

Finally the chips are taken to a rinse bath and the plastic chips sink to the bottom and PET chips float to the top and get skimmed off the top to a small conveyor belt that drops them into a heated dryer.

After being dried the chips are put to sale.

The PET chips are made back in to clothes and carpet. I mean wow. The cycle it goes through be be good but saving the oceans a little bit at a time. 1 in 6 plastic bottles make it to this stage. Plastic bottles are make not to disintegrate so do the right thing and next time you have a plastic bottle take the extra step and put it in the bin .

piece by piece.

On Wednesday, We had a visitor from keeping Raglan Plastic Free. We looked at the life of a plastic bag and how it travels. We had to finish a puzzle on how the story started and how it ended it was fun. On Thursday we made reusable bags out of old T-shirts. We learned facts about plastic. plastic is wrong. When plastic entered the environment it breaks down into microplastics. that if the animals in the bottom of the food chain eat it goys like this. an ant eats the microplastics a bird eats the ant the eagle eats the bird the fox eats the eagle the wolf eats the fox the tiger eats the wolf the lion eats the tiger some insane psychopath kills the bear and sells it and some poor innocent person eats it where did that microplastic end up. in the poor innocent person bodies or toilet. The facts where brain boggling.

Science Fair.

SCIENCE FAIR.

This year is filled with opportunities, science fair is one of things. I am doing very well, My science board looks so good. I think that I will get a good mark I hope that I can go to Waikato science fair.

Everyone else's science boards are coming in to class. I like all of them, Jacks science fair board is super cool check out his BLOG. Some people are going to be disappointed that they didn't get as a high mark as they would have hoped for. My science fair question is "Does Music interfere with memory recall." My hypothesis is that it did but I was proven wrong. The results improved or they were the same results.

science fair

Science Fair.

This year, I might do does music interfere with learning for science fair. If it does muddle with learning I will have to state how and why. I also need to test different types of music, does one make you focus or will it be a distraction. I will do outstanding this year. It sucks that I can't do "can a sausage spoil in space". But any way go science. I got the idea from Mr Matthews he  gave  it to me when he said we were not aloud to listen to music while working.

Term reflection.

Term reflection.

This term has been fun. I can’t remember all of the stuff that we did so I am trying to think of all of them. Term 1 was pretty cool I liked getting to know Mrs N. The closest thing that I can remember clearly would be the mountain biking I loved it so much. I did jumps, drifts and got good air. I liked going down the whole mountain on a bike but the climb up there was so painful. I hope that we can do it next year. I am so tired this week with mountain biking and just because it is nearly the school holidays. I enjoy hanging out with my new classmates . Dion is not that bad, at the start of the term I got distracted by him a lot. I still get distracted by him but I know how get my work done. This year I am getting all of my work done which is really good.

Integrity games

Integrity Games

On Friday, we had Integrity games with Tawa Team. I liked being a teacher, they all knew our game but lots of kids sat down and would not play which was pretty disappointing, since we spent so much effort on making it perfect for them.

Callum asb

ASB

On Tuesday, a guy from ASB called Callum came. We played a game. In the game my team went to Fiji, we had to dodge obstacles, like whether to buy full health cover first class plane trip or no class  5 star hotel with food paid for, or a shack that you had to pay for food. Next was passports and tourism, we decided to go in a shark tank. And money exchange. My group finished with 100 dollars. we made it through every trap that was set.

My top spot is whakapirau
Because it is really cool for spending time on the hills and catching big fish. It is a great place for making memories to stay with you forever. It is  just magical. I caught my first big fish a 34 Cm snapper . And then a 43 kg king fish .

The flicker of a tail in the glistening water  the wind curved the waves . slapping against the boats. The smell of fish bait filled the air. Sitting down with the rod the waves gently tilt the rod. The line hidden from site by it’s color . The fish scales glisten in the sun the warm breeze washes over my rod.

I love fishing.

Well that's my experience, did I mention I love fishing.

Soccer

Soccer
To kick.  Learn from the  waves as they pound the sand.

To glide. Learn from the birds that circle their food admiring it.

To score. Learn from the squirrels that nibble on nuts.

To win. Learn from the dolphins that work as a team circling their prey they wing as a team.

To pace. Learn from the snack that paces to another and back.

2016 road patrol day out.

2016 road patrol day out.
The car brakes hit gravel, sending stones everywhere. I hop out  looking at my surroundings.
I thank my parent helper for the ride. I climb up the stairs some people come past giggling at something, don’t look at them I think this is going to be fun I have Mitchell and Max with me nothing can go wrong.

Being a road patroler was tough work but We were given a day out to acknowledge the dedication and hard work we all did. It was a Wipra activity so some people from other schools were there.

Jet ski

                      Jet ski.

The powerful jet engine sprays high pressure water. Sending the jet ski propelling forward. 56 kilometers,78 kilometers , 83 kilometers. Violently the jet ski turns left sending a wall of water at both sides. Turning round going over our waves the jet ski bumps up and down like an angry bull bucking us trying to kick us off. Curving around corners one way then an other going over our previous waves. Holding on tight for dear life why did I say yes I feel like I am being shaken up side down. We reach the shore  and I feel great after jumping of in the middle of the ocean.

MY Home

MY Home
My mountain my home stands tall.
Casting a shadow to the wall.
My mountain stands proud.
It’s tattooed arms reach out stealing the sunlight.
My mountain stretches miles protecting its child…
MY mountain my home Pirongia.

The summit.
The challenges you face start here .
Getting to the top can be tough.
But at the end of the day you will make it and look back.
How far you have come all to this day.
Reaching the summit the Pirongian way.
